April 2025.
Po‘ipū Beach, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i.
Po‘ipū Beach, situated on Kaua‘i’s sunny South Shore, is renowned for its soft, golden sand, crescent shape, and lava rock formations at either end. The beach is divided into Brennecke’s Beach and Po‘ipū Beach Park. Brennecke’s Beach is ideal for adventurous surfers, while Po‘ipū Beach Park offers calm waters and a family-friendly atmosphere.
This dog and his master are sharing the surf at Po‘ipū Beach Park. The area is protected by a barrier reef, making it a prime spot for snorkeling, swimming, and, in this case, doggie body surfing. He’s a dashing figure on that boogie board, no doubt wooing all the lady dogs admiring his form. Or maybe she is wooing all of the studly boy dogs… I didn’t get close enough to tell.
About the photo: I captured this image with my Samsung S23 Ultra using the rear telephoto camera. I cropped the image to a square format for use on Instagram and used the latest version of Luminar Neo to automatically adjust the exposure. That was a new feature as of the April 2025 update, so I tried it instead of using the auto exposure button in Lightroom Classic. I added a bit of Accent AI to give the water surface a bit of punch, then a slight vignette to draw the viewer’s attention to the subjects. To view the image in 2K HD on a dark background or examine the metadata, click the picture to open it on my Flickr site.
I invite fellow bloggers to join in by creating their own Cellpic Sunday posts. There’s no set theme. The first rule is that your photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or other mobile device. The second rule is simple: link your challenge response to this post or drop a comment here with your link so others can find it. And remember, despite the name, there’s no penalty for sharing on a day other than Sunday.
