Cellpic Sunday – Phone from Car

Phone from car?

Hot Springs, Arkansas.

It was day 13 of our fall trip and we stayed overnight at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Next to the parking lot for our hotel, as we were leaving for our next destination, I noticed a pay phone box with a sign on the street behind the box that said, “Phone From Car.” Well, looking at the posts, the rock, and the shrubs, I’m sorry, I am just not sure how we could phone from the car.

Yes, I suppose I could get out of my car and walk over there, but then the sign should say, “Walk over here to use the phone.” Though it appeared to be a functioning pay phone (no, I didn’t check to see if it worked or even had any money in the return slot,) it seemed slightly out of place. It should have been installed next to the curb so people could have used one of the parking stalls to actually phone from the car. Maybe the parking lot was redesigned and no one bothered to move the phone?

About the photo: Out of my pocket came my Samsung S23U and I grabbed a quick pic. After downloading it to my computer, I imported the image into Lightroom Classic, squared the geometry, and sent it off to Luminar Neo for the removal of three power lines that intruded on the blue sky behind the signpost. Next, I did a quick tweak of the highlights and I liked the way it looked. A simple two-minute edit, export to Flickr and I called it done.

I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s acceptable as well. The second rule is to link your challenge response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment. Oh, and, you don’t have to post it on a Sunday.
