Motril, Spain.

As we were leaving Motril, Spain on our transatlantic cruise, I noticed a small cadre of sailboats following a powered dinghy. I suspect that there are sailors in training, and would have loved to learn the details of their journey on this beautiful day.

About the photo: Captured with my Samsung S23U, processing was pretty basic. After cropping within Adobe Lightroom Classic into a pseudo panoramic image, I sent it off to Luminar Neo. The sea was a bit choppy so I backed off on the structure to help smooth out the water. For pixel-peepers, I posted the image on Flickr where you can find lens and exposure details and see the image in 2K HD.

When I created the alliterative caption for the image, I thought it might make a fun poem. Lacking the necessary skills in meter and rhyme, I enlisted Google’s AI tool, Bard, to give it a try. After a few attempts, I am OK with sharing the AI poet’s results. With a recent court decision that says that AI work cannot be copyrighted, I changed one stanza to include human interaction. I understand that human collaboration with the AI tool is what is needed to allow the work to be copyrightable. Of course, this is an academic exercise. I couldn’t care less if someone stole the poem. After all, except for one stanza, it’s not my work anyway. >grin<

Seven sailboats a-sailing on the Spanish sea,
With their white sails billowing in the breeze.
They glide across the waves, so graceful and free,
Like spirits of the ocean dancing.

The sun is shining brightly, the sky is blue,
And the wind is whistling through the sails.
It’s a perfect day for sailing, and the sailors are filled with glee.
They’re enjoying the wind in their hair and the salt spray on their faces.

They sail for hours until the sun begins to set.
Then they turn their boats around and head back to shore.
They’re tired but happy, and they can’t wait to do it again tomorrow.

The seven sailboats are a sight to behold,
As they sail across the sea in perfect harmony.
They’re a symbol of freedom and adventure,
And they remind us of the beauty of the natural world.

The next time you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed,
Take a moment to watch the sailboats sail.
It will help you to relax and forget your troubles,
And it will remind you that there’s still beauty in the world.
