Cellpic Sunday – The Carnival Magic at Cozumel

Carnival Magic.

Cozumel, Mexico.

Note: On Monday, 3/23, we begin our journey back to Fargo, visiting family and friends along the way. I will respond to your Cellpic Sunday posts and comments more slowly than usual. Now, on with the story.

On a February 2024 cruise, our Norwegian Breakaway ship was already docked in Cozumel when I stepped out on the balcony to see the Carnival Magic’s arrival around 7 AM. Over the years, we sailed twice on the Magic, once on a Caribbean itinerary out of Miami and once on a Canadian itinerary out of New York City.

The Carnival Magic is a Dream-class cruise ship built in 2011. The large passenger vessel displaces 130,000 gross tons and can accommodate 4,724 passengers. Nowadays, she typically sails from Galveston, Texas, offering 7-day Caribbean itineraries.

About the Photo: The early morning sky made a pleasant background for this cruise ship portrait with my Samsung S23U. The automatic exposure mode selected f/4.9 and 1/60 of a second. Though Adobe Lightroom Classic has noise reduction tools, the AI tool doesn’t work on JPG files. After cropping adjustments, I sent it to Luminar Neo for processing using that program’s Noiseless tool. After a few more tweaks, it was ready to share via Flickr. You can click on the image above to pixel-peep in 2K HD.

I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s also acceptable. The second rule is to link your challenge response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment. Oh, you don’t have to post it on a Sunday.

  1. Ah, the magic of cruising – especially at sunset. We are cruising Visalia right now, though looking for some nice sunset pics. 🙂 xxx You’re still welcome in Visalia any time. Give Lynn a big hug for me. I haven’t heard from her in a while.

    • Since the themes aren’t defined for my Cellpic Sunday challenge, you can post and link to any previous Cellpic Sunday. Many contributors post to the previous Sunday or another Sunday post in the blog.
      Welcome aboard, Yanaj *
